GameStop announced that it will close the store on Thanksgiving this year

While in previous years GameStop had opened its stores for a limited number of hours on Thanksgiving night, starting sales on Black Friday, it appears the retailer plans to close for the holidays this year.

The report was provided by @videogamedeals on Twitter, who posted an image that looks like an internal email or communication from the GameStop team. In the list of extended public holidays, the image shows designated stores closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Before the pandemic, GameStop joined other stores with limited openings on Thanksgiving, starting at 3 or 4 p.m. In 2020, game retailer chose not to open at all on Thanksgiving due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in 2021, only a handful of stores will open on Thanksgiving Day, offering limited PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles | S.

GameStop has yet to make any public announcements to confirm or deny these holiday opening hours, and it’s possible the company will decide to reopen some stores for a limited time on Thanksgiving. In previous years, the hour had been updated on GameStop’s website before Thanksgiving, and the company is likely to do the same again this year.
