PlayStation tells players in 2020 that it can add 1440p support for game resolution output to PlayStation 5 “if required.” Looks like that happened as it is now in the new update.
With the launch of a new global PS5 system software update today, not only 1440p resolution is available for current TVs and monitors, but also Gamelists and other much-anticipated social features. There’s also a new audio comparison option to hear the difference between stereo and 3D audio output in headphones, and a new YouTube voice command preview.
“The update includes some highly requested features like 1440p HDMI video output and gamelist, as well as social features like the ability to easily request Screen Share from a team member. view new friends’ profiles and get notifications that help you join your friends’ games more quickly from the party chat,” wrote senior vice president of platform experiences Hideaki Nishino in a PlayStation blog post. Plus, you can now compare 3D and stereo sound on the same screen, and more easily access Actions in progress from game centers.”

This system software update will allow players in the US and UK to preview the ability to search on YouTube via voice commands.
“Another feature we’re excited to bring to more PS5 players is the ability to search for content on YouTube through Voice Command (Preview),” the blog reads. “From anywhere on PS5, including while playing a game, you can say ‘Hey PlayStation, find on Youtube.’ The YouTube app will open and relevant search results will be displayed. ”
A few other new features include the ability to launch a PS Remote Play session through the PS App and the ability to request Screen Sharing from there. To know more about these features, go to blog post here.
