NEW DELHI: PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday revealed Logotheme and website for India’s G20 Presidential termsays the opportunity to lead a strong group represents a moment of pride for the country as well as growing global confidence in it.
The Prime Minister said that while each meeting of a power bloc like G20 has its own diplomatic and geopolitical implications, for India the significance of hosting the organization is much more. “India sees this as a new responsibility and a measure of the growing confidence of the international community in it. Today, there are many global curiosities about India being analyzed in a new context. People are studying our current achievements while expressing optimism about our future,” Modi said.
Modi said the Indian philosophy of monism (Advaita) reflects a belief in the essential unity of all beings. “This school of thought can provide an escape from the conflicts and dilemmas that abound in the contemporary world. The choice of logo and theme represents India’s efforts in promotion to reinforce Buddha’s message of peace and Gandhian resistance to violence,” he said.
Referring to the lotus symbol in the G20 logo – a choice made on the basis of suggestions from everyone – he emphasized that it symbolizes hope at a time of crisis and turmoil in the world.
“The world is going through the aftermath of a horrible century-long pandemic, conflicts and a lot of economic uncertainty. The lotus symbol in the G20 logo represents hope in this era. No matter how adverse the circumstances, the lotus blooms. Even when the world is in deep crisis, we can still make progress and make the world a better place,” he said.
India assumed the G20 presidency from December 1.
Modi said the G20 is a group comprising two-thirds of the world’s population. “And India will now lead and chair this G20 grouping. You can imagine a great opportunity came before the country in ‘Amrit Kal’ Independence. It is a matter of pride for every Indian,” he said.
The Prime Minister locates the G20 presidency amid his favorite topic of national pride.
“This represents the power and potential of 130 crore India. It is our journeys made over thousands of years and countless experiences that have helped us reach this stage. Throughout this process we have witnessed achievements and splendor but we also endured a dark period where we remained enslaved for centuries.
“India has reached this point after suffering atrocities committed by the invaders. As we mark our ascent from those depths, experience is our greatest source of strength,” the Prime Minister said as he commended all the governments that have contributed to the progress.
