As India assumed the presidency of the G20, the forum of the world’s largest economies, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for “a fundamental shift in thinking to benefit all of humanity”. .”

  1. Prime Minister Modi said that India’s one-year G20 presidency would be “comprehensive, ambitious, decisive and action-oriented”.

  2. India today assumed the Presidency of the G20 with a focus on countering terrorism and “uniting” in addressing global challenges, such as the economic downturn and the climate crisis.

  3. The government also sought to build consensus on creating disaster and climate resilient infrastructure and debt sustainability. India’s G20 plans also focus specifically on startups and bridging the digital divide.

  4. India will host around 200 meetings across the country within the next year, with the first being held in Udaipur this weekend. The G20 Summit will be held in New Delhi in September 2023.

  5. Starting today, 100 monuments across the country, including UNESCO world heritage sites, will be lit up to highlight the G20 logo for one week.

  6. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the logo and theme for India’s G20 presidency last month. The logo depicts a lotus flower and a globe, while the theme for India’s G20 presidency – “One Earth, One Family, One Future” – underscores India’s commitment for ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (the world is one family).
