Futures drop in price after Wall Street rally

U.S. stock futures fell, forcing Wall Street to extend the year’s volatility as investors weigh the Federal Reserve’s commitment to fighting inflation against the possibility of policy tightening. than to impede growth.

S&P 500 futures fell 0.4% and futures contracts tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.3%. Changes in futures contracts do not necessarily predict market action after the market opens.

European stocks rose Wednesday for a four-day winning streak. Stoxx Europe 600 rose 0.3% in morning trade. The utilities and consumer staples sectors led the gains while the materials and information technology sectors lost ground.

SSE gained 2.6% after 4 gaining sessions and Uniper gained 2.1%.

The UK’s FTSE 100 was mostly unchanged. Other stock indexes in Europe were mostly higher, with France’s CAC 40 up 0.4 percent, Britain’s FTSE 250 up 0.3 percent and Germany’s DAX up 0.2 percent.

The Swiss franc, euro and British pound slid 0.2%, 0.3% and 0.5% against the US dollar, respectively.

In commodities, Brent crude rose 0.5% to $112.54 a barrel. Gold fell 0.5% to $1,809.50 an ounce.

The German 10-year boar yield increased to 1.063% and the UK 10-year gilt yield decreased to 1,875%. Yields on 10-year US Treasuries increased from 2.969% to 2.989%. Bond yields are inversely proportional to price.

Asian shares were mixed as Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 0.5% after falling 0.9% in the session and Japan’s Nikkei 225 gained 0.9%, while China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite National down 0.2%.

Traders worked on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange on Monday.
