France’s Macron comfortably wins second term
Emmanuel Macron comfortably won a second French presidency, defeating far-right rival Marine Le Pen with 58.5% of the vote in Sunday’s vote. The 44-year-old center is the first French president to be re-elected in 20 years. In front of jubilant supporters, he pledged a new era, while acknowledging the need to address issues that allowed his missile-carrying populist opponent to win more than 40% of the vote.
