Four students in Moscow, Idaho, died from an edged weapon, police say : NPR

Police in Moscow, Idaho, believe a knife or other edged weapon was used to kill four University of Idaho students last weekend, providing an update on a murder case they describe described as “a targeted, isolated attack.” Whoever is responsible for the deaths is still big.
Only limited information appeared about the murder, because of the member station Boise State Public Radio Note. Here’s what we know so far.
The victims ranged from freshmen to seniors
Four students, three women and a man, were found dead in an apartment on King Street near campus on Sunday, after police responded to reports of an unconscious person.

Ethan Chapin 20, a freshman from Mount Vernon, Wash., is a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. His specialty is entertainment, sports and tourism management.
Kaylee Goncalves, 21final year student from Rathdrum, Idaho, majoring in general studies at the College of Literature, Arts, and Social Sciences.
Xana Kernodle, 20a senior from Post Falls, Idaho, majoring in marketing and a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.
Madison “Maddie” Mogen, 21a senior from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, majoring in marketing.
All three women are from Kootenai County – whose county seat, Coeur d’Alene, is across the border from Spokane, Wash. Chapin hails from north of Seattle, west of Washington.
Kernodle and Mogen work together at the Mad Greek restaurant in downtown Moscow.
“Xana and Maddie have been serving here for several years and bring so much joy to our restaurant and everyone they meet,” restaurant manager says. In a follow-up post, they said the couple’s friends and university staff met at the restaurant on Monday night to share their support.
Deaths are considered murder
The Moscow police department said it did not find any weapons related to the attack, but preliminary information led investigators to believe that “a weapon with a blade like a knife was used.”
“Currently, there are no suspects in custody,” said the police on Tuesday.
Police hope to learn more later this week, when autopsies of the victims are expected to be completed. That “hopefully can provide more precise information about the exact cause of death,” the department said.

The campus is in mourning, and on the brink
Based on what they’ve learned so far, investigators consider the murder to be “a targeted, isolated attack with no imminent threat to the general public.” ministry said.
But no one was detained and few details were available, “Many students get scared and leave campus early for Thanksgiving,” said local TV presenter Maggie O’Mara. talk via Facebook.
Authorities are currently working to combine the victim’s activities and the events that occurred on Saturday night and Sunday morning that culminated in the discovery of the quadruple murder.
Some relatives of the victim have testified through the local media, mourns the tragic loss of young people who are loved and have promising futures ahead. Amid a lack of answers, they also urged people not to speculate or spread misinformation about what led to the attack.
