WASHINGTON – Allen Weisselberg, former chief financial officer of the Trump Organization, pleaded guilty Fifth, there are many tax fraud charges in one case related to the company’s business transactions.

In court on Thursday, Weisselberg said he understood he could face up to 15 years in prison if he fails to return his taxes or testify truthfully at a Trump Organization trial this fall.

His attorney, Nicholas Gravante Jr., said in a statement that Weisselberg pleaded guilty “to end this case and the years-long personal and legal nightmares it has caused him. He and his family. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said in a statement that Weisselberg used his position at the company “to earn money to pay taxes and enrich himself.”

“Instead of paying fairly like everyone else, Weisselberg asked the Trump Organization to provide him with a free apartment to rent, an expensive car, private school tuition for his grandchildren, and new furniture. – all without paying the required taxes,” Bragg said. “This plea agreement directly involves the Trump Organization in a series of criminal activities and requires Weisselberg to provide invaluable testimony in the upcoming trial against the corporation.”
