Former EastEnders star Samantha Womack reveals she is cancer free five months after her diagnosis | Ents & Arts News


Former EastEnders star Samantha Womack says she is breast cancer-free, five months after being diagnosed and undergoing chemotherapy.

Tell OK! magazine, Womack, who was best known for playing Ronnie Mitchell in the BBC series EastEnders until 2017, said she was “so grateful for [her] life”.

Appearing alongside her partner, and former Coronation Street actor Oliver Farnworth, Womack said her diagnosis and treatment has been a “roller coaster” and that means she has had to temporarily step away from the West End production of The Lion, the Witch and. The wardrobe she is currently starring in.

“I had surgery pretty quickly, which removed the tumour, and now I’m just getting some treatment while getting back to work, as a precaution,” she said.

In another part of the interview, Womack said: “I feel so grateful for my life. I know it sounds crazy, but I can almost see the beauty in everything now – like everything feels special.”

“I kept crying, because I was happy.”

The first person is 50 years old reveals her breast cancer diagnosis in memory of Olivia Newton-Johnwho passed away in August after a long battle with the disease.

Tweeting a picture of herself and daughter Chloe with the Grease star, as Womack plays Sandy in the West End film, the actor wrote: “This is the most magical evening. Olivia and Chloe went to see Grease in London and we had dinner together afterwards.

“I was so excited and amazed, she was my childhood. Now I’m starting my own battle with this disease and it’s incredibly emotional.”

Since then, Womack has updated her fans and supporters about her health and the treatment she is continuing to receive.

In OctoberWomack shared a video with her 106,000 Instagram followers, thanking them for their support and explaining that she underwent both tumor and lymph node removal before starting chemotherapy.

Last month, in her first TV interview since going public about her diagnosis, Womack appeared on This Morning, where she encouraged others to get regular breast exams.

“A lot of women should be self-examining in their 30s and 40s,” she said. “A lot of women would have been diagnosed earlier if they had been tested earlier.”

Womack is best known for playing Mandy in the British comedy Game On in the 1990s, and has since appeared in a number of films, television series and stage shows, including the comedy Mount Pleasant and the series Kingsman spy movie.

She originally planned a singing career and represented the UK in the 1991 Eurovision Song Contest, performing A Message to Your Heart. She ranked 10th.
