Former Chinese president Hu Jintao escorted out of party congress


BEIJING: Former President of China Hu Jintao, Xi Jinpingimmediate predecessor, was suddenly escorted out of the closing ceremony of a Conference of the judgment Communist Party on Saturday.
Hu, 79, who sat to Xi’s left, was led out of the main stage of the Great Hall of the People in Beijing by two managers, a Reuters witness at the congress said.
According to a video taken by some journalists on location and shared on social media, Hu appeared confused when the managers escorted him out.
On the way out, Hu talked to Xi and patted the Prime Minister Li Keqiangsitting to the right of Xi, on his shoulder.
Hu looked a little wobbly last Sunday when he was assisted on the same stage for the opening ceremony of the congress.
The five-yearly congress ended with amendments to the party’s constitution that affirmed Xi’s core status and his role as the political ideological guide within the party.
