Foreign secretary Kwatra gets 16-month extension | India News
NEW DELHI: Foreign Minister Vinay Mohan Kwatra has been extended for another 16 months in the position after the pension date on December 31 this year, an order from the personnel department said.
Kwatra took office as foreign minister on 1 May this year, succeeding Harsh Vardhan Shringla.
The extension comes at a time when India is taking over the G20 presidency. India will host the G20 Summit next year.
Kwatra served as India’s special envoy to Nepal. He is known for his extensive expertise in dealing with neighboring countries such as India as well as the US, China and Europe.
