Ford GT LM Edition revealed as a special edition running out of stock

The Ford GT supercar will launch later this year, but it won’t go away quietly. To celebrate the GT race car’s victory at the 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours, Ford is building 20 LM Edition models featuring unique design details and redesigned titanium exhaust pipes.

The GT LM is finished in Liquid silver, with Ford providing a choice of carbon fiber details in red or blue as an accent to the winning car’s paint job. These include the front splitter, door sills, door mirrors, engine cover and rear diffuser, with the GT’s 20-inch carbon fiber wheels also receiving a red or blue glow.

The limited edition also gets black Brembo brake calipers and titanium nuts, along with a separate cyclone design for the 3D printed titanium exhaust system. A titanium badge above the exhaust also marks the LM version.

The overall cabin design is unchanged from the standard GT, aside from the LM-specific upholstery and badge options. The driver’s seat can be decorated with either red or blue Alcantara, and this color theme extends to the engine start button and stitching for the black Alcantara passenger seat. Matte carbon fiber panels and black leather are found elsewhere inside, along with a metallic “GT LM” motif mounted on the dashboard. This badge was created by grinding the crankshaft of the number 69 Ford GT that took third place at Le Mans in 2016 to form an alloy suitable for 3D printing.

Aside from these aesthetic tweaks, the GT LM is essentially unchanged from the standard model. The mid-mounted 3.5-liter V6 produces 651 horsepower with the help of two turbochargers and sends power to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The GT hits 216mph and features a carbon fiber chassis, air-optimized bodywork and adjustable suspension for optimum performance on the track.

Customer deliveries of the 20 LM Editions will begin in the fall, with the final model set to go into production before the end of the year.
