Ford F150 pickup has a new error, recalling more than 450,000 vehicles

Ford has issued a recall order for some F150 pickup trucks of the 2021-2022 batch due to a faulty windshield wiper motor. Failure can cause the wipers to fail, resulting in damage. Talking about this, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has just said that 453,650 pickup trucks are affected by the recall program. However, the US agency also said that the recall campaign does not affect models manufactured at its Dearborn Truck plant between May 3 and September 10 of last year. Ford created these specific pickups with a different wiper motor design due to the microchip crisis caused by the pandemic.

Ford has said that it is not aware of any accidents or injuries involving its vehicles related to the faulty wiper motor problem. However, the automaker says it has received 1,378 warranty reports globally regarding non-functioning windshield wipers or intermittent operation of the Ford F150 pickup truck. The automaker added that it will contact owners of the affected pickup trucks. It also says that dealers will replace the front windshield wiper motor free of charge.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Ford has had to carry out recall campaigns for the F150 pickup. Earlier this year, the automaker issued several recalls for the popular pickup truck. In September, Ford recalled some F150 Raptors due to loose wheel nuts. In June of this year, a safety compliance recall was issued for the F150 Lightning due to the electric pickup truck’s faulty tire pressure monitoring system. The automaker says the TPMS on models with 20-inch or 22-inch wheels has lighting issues.

All in all, it’s been a really tough year for the major US automaker, which has launched multiple recall campaigns to fix problems in thousands of its popular models such as the Mustang Mach-E, Bronco and Maverick.
