For the first time, Mahindra offers a virtual test drive of the XUV400 EV before its launch
Mahindra and Mahindra are all set to launch their first electric SUV – the XUV400 – in India in the next few weeks. Launched earlier this year, the XUV400 is the first EV among at least five new generation electric models that will be launched by the automaker in the domestic market in the coming years. Prior to launch, Mahindra and Mahindra launched a virtual platform to enhance the electric SUV buying experience called XUV400 verse. This is a metaverse platform that offers a virtual showroom with options for customers to customize their XUV400 and even test drive it.
While virtual showrooms are not new, the driving experience from the comfort of home is unique to any Indian automaker. Users need to login and enter the showroom to test drive. It looks like a video game from the perspective of a driver behind the wheel of the XUV400. Metaverse offers multiple modes and camera views for the virtual test drive. However, it is far from the real world experience.
Metaverse also offers the option for potential customers to choose their favorite color for the XUV400. Through guided or customized showroom visits, one can configure his selection of XUV400 through 3D simulation. Veejay Nakra, President of Automotive at Mahindra and Mahindra, said: “The XUV400verse will enable us to create a superior customer experience. We invite our community of young SUV buyers and enthusiasts to join this experience with their friends and family from the comfort of their homes. We’re providing an environment that resonates with our next generation of tech-savvy customers, giving them an innovative and immersive experience.”
Mahindra XUV400 will be the second electric SUV made in India after Mahindra XUV400 tata Nexon electric car. The XUV400 is the most premium electric SUV made in India. The Mahindra electric SUV promises a range of 456 km on a single charge. This puts the Mahindra XUV400 above the Tata Nexon EV, which is capable of running a distance of 437 km on a single charge.
Mahindra also claims the XUV400 will be the fastest electric SUV made in India. Mahindra XUV400 EV has the ability to accelerate from 0-100 km / h in 8.3 seconds, faster than the Tata Nexon EV, reaching the same milestone from a standstill in about 9 seconds.
The Mahindra XUV400 EV draws its power from a 39.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Mahindra claims that it can be fully charged in less than an hour using fast charging technology.
Besides Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400 aims to compete with rivals such as MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona EV in the Indian market.
