Football Manager 2023 is out now. Completely out, that is, weeks after it became available as an early access beta. This also means it’s now available via PC Game Pass, for those who want to get their hands on test management like the virtual Paul Scholes.
This year’s new features include “Team Planner and Experience Matrix”. This is a new screen that gathers information about your roster to allow you to see at a glance how many players are deeper than you in each position and what the lineup might look like a season or two ahead. FM2023 also boasts that it has improved the AI manager, new player animations, and a new “fan reliability” rating to go along with the longstanding “board reliability” gauge. . As a set of features, it’s not groundbreaking – but Football Manager is not. It’s a resolutely incrementalist series. I rate this year’s updated collection a bit better than that year they made a big deal about having a burger stand outside the stadium.
