Food content is possibly one of the most watched videos on the internet. Occasionally, we come across videos that show people tasting different foods, cooking unique recipes, and more. One such video of a food blogger goes unpopular on the internet. And guess; It led to a police investigation against her. As AFP reports, an influencer from China, who goes by the pseudonym Tizi, is under investigation after a clip of her grilling and eating a great white shark went viral. Police in the central city of Nanchong said she was seen “eating predatory fish”. However, the video was later deleted.
The now-deleted video shows Tizi opening a two-meter-long fish and grilling it. She said (in the video), “It may look aggressive, but its meat is actually very tender.” She is also seen cooking fish heads in a spicy broth.
The video quickly went viral on the internet, with people reacting furiously. One person wrote, “It’s amazing how an internet celebrity can eat a protected animal in front of millions in broad daylight!” Another said: “These uncultured attention-grabbers will stoop very low to attract eyeballs!”
For those not inverted, the great white shark is listed as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. The AFP report further explains that these fish are listed as protected in China, and any form of illegal possession (fish) can lead to prison sentences of five to 10 years.
Speaking about the incident, Tizi told a local media that she obtained the fish through “legitimate channels”; however, the local government declared the statement to be “inconsistent with reality”.
