From the Purebred Idea Foundation

Since publishing our story on a pool manipulation incident at Gulfstream ParkTIF received or noticed many comments and questions about it and identified a new case of manipulation as of Saturday, November 19 in Laurel Park.

We hope to answer some of those questions and provide more context for those trying to understand what is involved in threatening the integrity of the sport.

Among the questions we address:

  • How often does this happen and why?
  • I don’t understand this…can you explain step by step how someone would try to perform the operation?
  • Why do you seem to hate Quinellas and want to shut them down?
  • Is pool manipulation really illegal?
  • If group manipulation is on the rise, what is driving it?

Click here or the button below to read our answers, hopefully adding more context to the issues.

Thoroughbred Ideas advocates for sustainable improvements to Thoroughbred racing for all its stakeholders, especially their key customers – equestrians and horse owners – through exchange, curate and advocate data-driven ideas, shared and implemented by the sport’s existing team of entities.
