Floyd Mayweather targets Canelo “duck” fight

Floyd Mayweather took out his old rival Canelo Alvarez, by saying he believes the Mexican is taking out super-middleweight rival David Benavidez.
Mayweather and Canelo locked horns throughout 2013with ‘TBE’ proved too good for the then 23-year-old and boxing to win the decisive victory.
Since that night, Canelo has established himself as the biggest star in the sport and currently holds all four world titles in the 168 lbs.
However, in a clip shared by FighterIQMayweather claims that his one-time nemesis is avoiding a fight with the undefeated Benavidez.
“If it were up to me, we would like to meet Benavidez. Canelo is a great boxer, but in my personal opinion he is avoiding Benavidez. This is my personal opinion, and I am allowed to speak my mind.”
“We want to meet Benavidez – let’s make it happen.”
Canelo has been linked with an ongoing encounter with Benavidez over the past few years, however there are more pressing issues ahead, with his fight against compulsive challenger John Ryder announced last week on May 6
The competition will take place at Akron Stadium in Guadalajara and will be Canelo’s first time competing in his native Mexico since 2011.
Though not well known to fans in the west Atlantic, Ryder is a fine moderator and recently scored the best win of his career against Alvarez’s old rival Danny Jacobs.
That said, Canelo is the favorite candidate to overtake Brit and set up a compelling rematch with Bivol in the second half of 2023.
For Benavidez, he takes on Canelo’s old rival Caleb Plant this weekend at the MGM Grand, with the winner supposed to claim the title of world champion.
