Floyd Mayweather Jr’s exhibition against Don Moore postponed

Via Sam Volz: Floyd Mayweather Jr’s exhibition match with little-known partner Don Moore has been postponed due to the death of the president of the United Arab Emirates. No date has been given for the rescheduling of the fight between Mayweather and Moore, 45.

The Mayweather-Moore show was supposed to take place on Saturday in Dubai at a helipad; With the death of the president of the UAE, there will be three days of shutdown. Below are some other older boxers, 47-year-old Anderson Silva against Bruno Machado and 38-year-old Badou Jack.

It is unclear whether the Mayweather vs. Moore sells on PPV or not. There hasn’t been any buzz about this exhibition matchup, and it’s pretty clear why. After Mayweather’s big fight against MMA guy Conor McGregor in 2017, he hasn’t done anything interesting since. That match was a big disappointment for many fans in terms of entertainment.

It was even more boring than Floyd’s previous fight with Andre Berto in 2016, and that bout looked like an eye-opener, as did Mayweather’s previous fight with Manny Pacquiao.

Given the lack of interest from boxing fans on social media, you might assume that Mayweather was better off forgetting the whole thing and starting over. If aging Mayweather continues to promote his exhibition fights to the public, he needs to at least fight the guys fans have heard of.

It’s not clear what Mayweather was thinking when he dueled his former teammate Moore, but he needs to do better. If the idea is for Mayweather to continue selling showtime fights in his 50s and 60s, he should focus on former world champions.

These would be great options for Floyd:

  • Oscar De La Hoya
  • Julio Cesar Chavez
  • Kosta Tszyu
  • Zab Judah
  • Miguel Cotto
  • Felix Trinidad
  • Fernando Vargas
  • Roy Jones Jr
  • Bernard Hopkins

Some of those will probably beat Mayweather, but it won’t count towards his 50-0 record as it’s an exhibition. If the idea is for Mayweather to keep bringing in the money for as long as possible, he will need to raise the payout.

In Floyd’s last exhibit, he pitted YouTuber Logan Paul in an eight-round match without a winner. The fight consisted mostly of bumps, collisions from Mayweather and punches. It’s not an entertaining fight in the truest sense of the word unless you’re someone who enjoys watching two boxers hold out.

After the fight, Mayweather said, “He’s better than I thought. He’s a tough, rough opponent.

Floyd has a net worth of $450 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. With money like that, why would Mayweather opt for exhibition fights with little-known names like Moore? Is Mayweather Worried About Losing? It’s very, very strange.
