According to Fox 35 OrlandoThe incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on August 14. Flagler-Palm Coast High School students were reportedly getting off the school bus at a stop when two teenage girls got off the bus and allegedly agreed to fight.
Furthermore, the arrest affidavit noted that the girls were friends and had a conflict over a boy.
“One of the minors’ mothers was waiting at the bus stop after her child told her about the fight,” the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “When the fight began, the mother joined in the fight instead of trying to stop it.”
Footage of the fight was allegedly recorded by a student on the bus. Furthermore, the footage appears to show Stephanopoulos exchanging words with her daughter’s former friend before her daughter pushes the teen, with the teen throwing the first punch.
At that point, Stephanopoulos intervened and appeared to put the other teen in a “chokehold,” according to Fox 35Meanwhile, her daughter continued to unleash blows.

Furthermore, at one point, a teenage boy tried to separate the mother and the teenage girl. However, the boy was later hit by Stephanopoulos’ daughter.
Footage of the incident shows the fight lasted nearly three minutes before Stephanopoulos and his daughter drove away.

No arrests were made on the day of the fight, according to the source. However, Stephanopolous was arrested “several days later” and taken to the Sheriff Perry Hall Detention Facility.
The mother has since been released on $1,000 bail.
“It should be noted that Kathryn has expressed regret and shame over the entire incident,” the Flagler County arrest affidavit states.
According to TMZThe mother is said to have been charged with child abuse.
“Instead of de-escalating the situation, we have a mother getting involved in a fight, setting a bad example for her child and those at the bus stop,” Sheriff Rick Staly said in a statement. Fox 35“She certainly won’t be getting mother of the year for her actions. Parents need to lead by example and not be part of the problem. Luckily, no one was seriously injured, but now a mother is facing serious charges for losing control of her temper.”
The paper further said that Stephanopolous’ daughter is facing “misdemeanor charges” while the other teen has been charged with “aggravated assault.” No one involved in the fight was seriously injured.
