Flipkart eDAO, Polygon Partner to Launch ‘Flipverse’ Supermarket Shopping Experience


E-commerce major Flipkart has launched a metaverse-based virtual shopping experience called ‘Flipverse’. Flipverse will allow users to discover and shop for products in a metaverse environment. The e-commerce company has partnered with eDAO to develop a virtual shopping experience, along with startup Polygon scaling Meta and Ethereum. Flipverse will be available on Flipkart’s newly launched platform, FireDrops, which can be accessed from the e-commerce platform’s app. The development also comes six months after Flipkart launched Flipkart Labs, an initiative to test Web3 technology and its use cases for e-commerce.

Overturned will provide a gambling, interactive and immersive shopping experience to consumers in the digital world by giving them access to their favorite brands, SuperCoins and digital collectibles. This initiative aims to “reverse” the shopping story, bringing consumers closer to their favorite brands in a two-way interactive environment.

The e-commerce company said in a press release shared with Gadgets 360. In the first phase, the platform will be adopted early and will only be available to Android users for a week. personal care brand Nivea, and homegrown electronics brand Noise.

When entering reverse, users get access to a digital twin, which is a third-person avatar they like, popular in games like Grand Theft Auto and Fortnite. Users can move their digital twin in the metaverse space and can interact with brand stores designed in the metaverse. Once in the store, the user can tap on the table to view the products. Once the user completes the product, they can click on the product link to be redirected to Flipkart to purchase it.
