Flavor Flav responded after calling the media network
Flavor Flav initially jumped on X (formerly Twitter) to express his frustration after security at NBC asked him to leave Christmas Tree Lighting. He called online, saying the situation confused him. However, on Thursday, December 5, Flav got back at X, saying he was embarrassed and thought NBC handled things wrong. Furthermore, he thanked his fans and social media for showering him with love after the incident.
“I posted and quickly deleted some content last night, I felt embarrassed by some of the words and actions of the security guards. The situation was handled poorly and I don’t know how many people care. I thank you all for the love and ’tis the season to spread love and joy. My post created headlines that took away from everyone’s incredible performances and hard work, Jennifer Hudson RATED it, that’s my girl, and man Kelly Clarkson is one of the GREATEST guys of all time, I stayed and watched the Backstreet Boys from the side stage just as it started snowing, and I have to say Howie D is one of the GREATEST guys in the industry music industry, you know, real people goodness, and if you don’t catch us at the trailhead, meet us on the street. Back way!!”

Flavor Flav shared that his holiday spirit was affected after he experienced an awkward backstage encounter at Christmas Tree Lighting in a now-deleted post on X. Reality says he was visiting the Backstreet Boys when security asked him to leave. In addition, he also shared that the incident happened when NBC’s social media team asked him to create content. Flav mentioned that the situation made him feel heartbroken because he always tries to spread good vibes wherever he goes.
“I felt weird… I was invited to the Rockefeller Tree Lighting night and I was escorted to meet my boys,,,BACKSTREET BOYS,,, and we were backstage in their dressing room, ,, security came up to me and said @nbc didn’t want me in this area and I needed to leave. At the same time, their social media lady came and asked to capture the social media content. What have I ever done with NBC or anyone,,?? all I do is try to spread joy and love, and I think I did that for NBC at the Olympics,” Flav wrote on X.
Furthermore, Flav posted on X that the situation had “broken his spirit.” His comments caused fans to question whether the Backstreet Boys support him. One user commented, “I’m sorry that happened to you. @nbc was wrong to do that and your Boys (Backstreet Boys) should have stood up for you.” Flav replied to user X, confirming that the Backstreet Boys supported him.
Despite the drama, Flav still enjoyed the Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. He shared a video on X of the tree lit up with twinkling multi-colored lights and wrote: “Christmas in the city is no different than lighting the Rockefeller tree @rockcenternyc.”
Flavor Flav’s frustration with NBC comes after he appeared on the network earlier this year. In July, he has become “official hype man” for the USA Water Polo team at the 2024 Paris Olympics, broadcast on NBC. CNBC reported that Flav has signed a five-year contract to appear at USA Water Polo events, increasing the team’s social media presence and helping expand the sport’s reach. Flav also wears his Team USA branded water polo hat and waterproof watch necklace poolside during games.
