By Peter Brant Salimah (Ire) (El Kabeir), the first American to start breeding males and her Yeomanstown alumnus ‘Rising star TDN’matches that feat with a very impressive debut Saturday afternoon at Tampa Bay Downs.

Skinny as 4-5 in the later stages of the bet, runner Peter Brant passed all the way to 7-5 and was 13-10 when the doors flew. Starting off hesitantly beneath Samy Camacho, Salimah was allowed to catch up and race with just two opponents behind as they hit their first innings. Quietly driving through the middle stages and heading out into the clear outdoors, the shark – a gray like its lord – was consigned to a four and five-wide run at the turn and discharged onto road seven or eight at the top of the lane. But continuing to be undaunted, Salimah leveled a stunning score in the center of the course, heading with full steam on the farther court and expanding with each stride to score five good lengths in a while. Shows the power of efficiency.

Raised by Yeomanstown Student from Promised Winnings, a mare raised by Dark Angel nursery stallion (Ire), Salimah – half-sister to Fivethollionstoone (Ire) in the Team 3 (Frankel {GB}) – cost Brant and company 180,000 gns at the October 2020 Tattersalls sale, which was the most expensive of El Kabeir’s first 60 for that season. A half-sister to SW Beldale Memory (Ire) (Camacho {GB), Promised Money is the dam of a 2-year-old pony of the brilliant Lope de Vega (Ire) and an avid Army aspirant. Invincible (Ire).

El Kabeir co-wrote Zayat Stables $250,000 at OBS’s 2013 Sale in August 2013 and earned ‘Rising Star’ when he grew 10 3/4 lengths on his second ask at Saratoga in 2014. He ended his freshman campaign with a hit in the GII Kentucky Jockey Club S. and celebrated the first leg. of the calendar with a length of 4 3/4 in GIII Jerome S. at the Aqueduct. He added some convincing points in GIII Gotham S. and also a good third to Frosted in the GI Wood Memorial in 2015 S. His first season in the races has now yielded 18 winners in nine jurisdictions, including Group 2 top scorer Don Chicco (GB) and winner won other shares Masekela (Ire) and Sa Filonzana (Ire). El Kabeir is in his fifth year at the school for a fee of €6,000.
