Original Q5 just the second SUV from Audifollow Q7. Now, the German company offers seven different SUV models with the aim of creating even more in the all-electric e-tron range.
One of Audi’s most popular models, the Q5 has battled the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and BMW X3and now there’s a new third-generation model in the works.
We can expect the new Q5 to change over time and receive VW Group’s new SSP platform, rather than a modified version of the VW Group. PPE . Platform similar size reinforcement, All-electric Q6 e-tron. The SSP Platform was built to replace the MLB architecture that underpins many of the VW Audi Group vehicles – such as the current Q5.
As we can see from these spy shots, the new platform shouldn’t change the overall proportions too much and the traditional Audi design details should remain the same. There’s a wide front grille, albeit a bit sleeker than the previous Q5. There are also front side vents and a lower grille – just like you’d find on the current car.
Moving to the back, there are four lights similar to recently scouted the A6 e-tron. Just like that car, the taillights are more than likely just a test unit with a full-length taillight bar design striking the rear, as seen on both the petrol Audis and the e-tron range. Hopefully those twin exhausts will be covered in a shroud like most modern combustion engine Audis do.
Audi has announced that it will resume production diesel cars by 2026, enough time for a diesel variant of the next Q5 to take effect. There should also be a petrol with plug-in hybrid capability with Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system.
The interior of the new Q5 should boast Audi’s 11.6-inch infotainment screen with the latest version of its MMI system, as seen on the new Q4 e-tron.
No word on pricing but we can expect it to launch some time in 2023 to compete with Mercedes GLC coming soon.
