Nintendo’s new ‘Alarmo’ audio clock device is now available in select locations around the world and first impressions are already in.
If you’re curious to know a little more – even after everything Nintendo has revealed, we’ve put together this brief summary highlighting some of the stores that tested it. So here’s the list so far…
We’ll start with The Verge discuss the setup process but also have to admit that it is “very cute”:
“That setup process is actually quite lengthy and can be a bit much for a kid. You choose the date and time, of course, but you’re also shown how to configure the watch’s motion detection features , this takes some time.” time and I don’t see any way to bypass it. Alarmo’s millimeter wave presence sensor works with bed sizes from twin to king, and the screen is designed to face the center of your bed… Is this thing absurdly expensive? Because what is it? Sure. But demographically, it’s very likeable and there are small, thoughtful Nintendo touches throughout the experience — and I’m barely digging it.”
CNET was also able to own this new device ‘day one’. It shared some interesting information while also noting that it looks like an extension of the NIntendo brand:
“If you want to surprise yourself in the morning, you can randomize it among a game’s wake-up sounds, or randomize it to switch to any of the available alarms. There’s also the feature Sleep tracking feature: All motion sensors also help record your activity and how much you move during your sleep, and the record is kept for a year… In many ways, this watch is closer to the type of product Disney would sell. With Nintendo now having retail stores, movie And amusement parkMaybe that’s the problem. $100 is a lot for a novelty gift, but this also feels like a smart device that will actually update over time.”
