The final set of stamps featuring the late Queen’s silhouette has been published by the Royal Mail.
of Queen Elizabeth II The image will appear on a unique set of stamps commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Flying Scotsman steam locomotive.
There will be 12 stamps depicting the famous train at various locations across the UK, including across the Ribblehead Viaduct in North Yorkshire and at Victoria Station in London.
There will also be a set of four small stamps, featuring images of Flying Scotsman and LNER (London North East Railway) poster artwork from the 1920s and 30s – when it first started moving on the road British ray.
Royal letter Spokesman David Gold said the Flying Scotsman was a “national engineering treasure” and a design “reminiscent of the golden age of steam travel”.
He said the stamps represent “the romance of rail travel and are loved by people all over the world”.
“We are honored to mark this important milestone with a special set of stamps,” he added.
David Gentleman, a stamp illustrator, designed the stamps, which are modeled after Mary Gillick’s 1952 effigy of Elizabeth II, which has appeared on special stamps since 1968.
