Final Fantasy XIV 6.3 Trial Guide

The new beta of Final Fantasy XIV 6.3 is called Mount Ordeals. It’s a level 90 dungeon that takes place right after the dungeon of 6.3 Lapis Manalis. In Mount Ordeals, Archfiend Rubicante challenges players to a fiery duel. So far, all of Golbez’s main minion villains have been elemental themed, and Rubicante’s offensive arsenal is all fire-based. Here’s everything you need to know about unlocking and beating the new trial.

How to Unlock FFXIV 6.3 Trial, Mount Ordeals

Follow the Main Scenario Desires Untold Quest, and you’ll find Rubicante waiting for you at Thavnair. You will also need a minimum average iLVL of 595.

Guide Challenge Mountain

State 1

hell: Party-wide AoE. Heal and shield.

Purge Challenge (first): Rubicante covers the platform with a red outer ring and a purple inner ring. Blue rope-like lines were spread throughout the arena. Note that along one of the blue lines, an orange flashing marker will appear. The player should move near the end of this particular blue line on the outer edge of the platform. The player has 10 seconds to position correctly before being unable to move. After 10 seconds has elapsed, the blue triangle AoE connected to the orange line will be raised and the corresponding cone AoE will be activated. This mechanism will repeat twice, and the activated blue line (indicated by the orange outline) will change the second time.

Dome Hell: Rubicante started using Arch Inferno with two large circular AoEs on either side of the platform. When you see this, get ready to move. Clockwise, Rubicante will continue to roll multiple AoEs one after the other. In response, the player will also have to keep moving clockwise, following the tail of the previously activated AoE.

  • Rubicante will also use other AoEs simultaneously, such as Conflagration (a red AoE going straight through the center of the arena) and Radial Flagration (dark orange radial AOE). Radial Flagration and Conflagration have cast bars–so you’ll know when they’ll go off.

Purge Challenge (second time): It’s like the first instance of the Purgatory Trial. Only this time, notice the rotating arrows rotating clockwise or counter-clockwise around the Rubicante. This means that when the Purgatory Trial activates, the purple inner ring will rotate a “slice” forward or backward, depending on the direction of the arrow. Then a new blue path will be marked with an orange marker. Note that the orange marker does not rotate. It’s the purple ring inside that is moved by the arrows.

It sounds confusing at first, but for this mechanism–you can still move to the “initial” path (pre-rotate) and, ahem, almost skip the rotation. As long as you’re far enough on the edge of the platform and close enough to the new line, you’ll mostly be unscathed by the triangle AoE. Again, Rubicante will perform another round of the Purge Order, with the arrows usually going in the opposite direction of the first set of arrows.

Add stage: Rubicante will jump to the outer edge of the platform and four Extras will appear. Rubicante is invulnerable at this point, so the party should focus on killing Adds.

  • Power of Rubicante, anger meter: All extras must be destroyed before the wrath meter fills up.
  • creepy touch: During the Extra phase, Rubicante will also summon multiple AoEs on the platform. This will happen throughout the Extra phase until you kill all the Extras. Heal and shield through party damage through Rubicante’s Power.

Phase 2

Rubicante transforms and the second half of the battle begins

Hell (second time): Rubicante places a circular AoE on each party member. Spread out to avoid overlapping damage.

fire: Rubicante summons a golden compass with a very fast rotating hand. Near the end of the connecting rod, the wheel slows down–and a giant AoE rod in the center will appear in whichever direction the needle lands when transmission is complete. The tricky thing is, as soon as this central AoE is off, the cascading AoEs are off either side of the central AoE.

Pay attention to the last few seconds of the Flamerake and move quickly to either side of the last hand. Don’t go too far, though: You’ll want to be near the edge of the first AoE. After the first AoE is off, move into the center space to avoid the second and third AoEs cascading.

Soul: Rubicante attaches an AoE bar to each party member. Spread out to avoid overlapping damage. Soulscad deals fairly high damage, so healers should attempt to heal any party members injured in Flamerake before Soulscad shuts down.

Double Fire: Both tanks have a giant triangular AoE attached to them. Tanks should spread out and avoid hitting the rest of the party with AoE.

Sweeping Burning Body: The stack marker is placed on a random team member and at the same time, half of the platform is covered in AoE. The whole party should move to the uncovered half of the platform and stack to share the damage.

Then it’s a repeat of the mechanics that the player has seen. He’ll cycle through the Purge Trial, Hell, Dome Hell, Fire Flame, Soul – and once you get to this point, Rubicante will be close to death.
