Fed stress test finds big banks could weather severe recession
The Federal Reserve has given America’s largest banks a sane bill in annual stress testsays it will be able to continue lending to households and businesses even during a severe economic downturn.
This year’s stress test measures the ability of the 34 largest banks to maintain strong capital levels during a hypothetical recession marked by higher unemployment and plummeting stock prices.
