Be it Durga Puja or Diwali, they love to turn every occasion into a major food festival. Don’t believe us? We recommend you check out actor Mouni Roy’s Instagram driver. The actress loves food and is never afraid to share about this dish on social networks. Occasionally, we see her indulge in delicious food. Whether on vacation or on business trips, Mouni be sure to take time out to explore the food culture of the place (she visits). Take for example her latest Insta story.
Mouni Roy was recently in Kolkata on a business trip. Amidst the hustle and bustle of life, she has herself a classic Bengali dish to enjoy. There’s no point in guessing – it’s the popular sandesh nolen gurer (pronounced: shondesh). For those who aren’t inverted, sandesh is the quintessential Bengali mithai made with milk and sugar. However, you’ll also find variations in the recipe where the sugar is replaced with stevia, a sweetener and of course, fresh nolen gur (jaggery). Nolen gur is palm sugar, made especially in winter. Today, however, you’ll find nolen gur year-round in sweets and grocery stores.
Mouni held pieces of sand made with nolen gur and is said to have enjoyed it to the fullest. She shared a boomerang video on the photo-sharing app, which shows her tying a mithai tie, while editing her hair (possibly during some shoots). “While in Kolkata…nolen gurer sondesh,” she captioned the story. Here is a glimpse for you:
