Fatty liver disease: Your sleeping habits can determine your risk of the disease
Fatty liver disease is a condition in which a person develops extra fat in their liver, which is why it is also known as fatty liver. Usually, people with this condition don’t show any symptoms and therefore don’t have any serious problems, thus leading to a delayed diagnosis and possible liver damage.
Fatty liver disease can happen to anyone, both alcohol drinkers and non-drinkers. Alcoholic fatty liver disease is the type in which people develop the condition from heavy drinking, while people who are not heavy drinkers can develop non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Either way, it can be life-threatening and may require treatment.
Depending on your risk factors, you must take certain precautions to reduce your chances. While obesity, underlying health conditions and unhealthy lifestyle habits are some of the main risk factors for the disease, a recent study found that your sleep habits can also determine whether you have a higher risk of disease.
