Faraday Future’s FF91 has taken a major step toward becoming a retail reality with the news that the FF91 Futurist debut all-electric crossover has been rated at 381 miles by the EPA.
That’s three miles better than what Faraday Future promised at the FF91 launch in early 2017, and it’s impressive given the car’s claimed size and performance.
At 206.7 inches long, the FF91 is eight inches longer than the Tesla Model X. The Futurist version features a three-motor powertrain that delivers a maximum power output of 1,050 horsepower, or enough to accelerate 0-60 miles. /hour in less than 3.0 seconds. The Futurist, which rides on 22-inch wheels and a 130 kWh battery pack, is also fully equipped, Faraday Future says.
The Tesla Model X Plaid, which offers the same performance as the FF91 Futurist, has only gone 311 miles when equipped with 22-inch wheels. Even with the 20-inch wheels, the Tesla’s range at 333 miles is significantly superior.

“The fact that the EPA confirms our 381-mile range is really exciting news for FF and validates what we know about the FF 91,” said Carsten Breitfeld, CEO of Faraday Future. in a statement. “Our integrated propulsion system with a lithium-ion battery pack efficiently converts battery energy to power the vehicle, while efficiently recovering and reusing brake energy to optimize and extend scope of action.”
The FF91 is now available for pre-order, although the delivery date is still in doubt as Faraday Future recently announced needed to raise more cash before it can start the media. The company also said it needed to raise cash to fund operations through the end of 2022.
The plan was to build this car at a factory in Hanford, California, where pre-production models were assembled.
Pricing information has yet to be released, though Faraday Future has suggested a starting price of $180,000 for the FF91 Futurist and $120,000 for the base model.
