Ex-Today news reader Tracy Vo is engaged to partner Liam Connolly


Nine News reporter Tracy Vo got engaged on Thursday when her partner Liam Connolly proposed next to Miri Miri Falls in Western Australia.

The Today newsreader, 38, beamed as she raised a glass of white wine and donned a bathing suit, showing off her sparkling engagement ring by the waterfall.

She shared the good news on Instagram that: ‘He took me to meet Miri Miri and asked to marry me. I cried, I swore and then I said yes. ‘

Tracy continued: ‘I can’t wait to be your wife, Liam! You are the kindest and sweetest soul. You make me laugh every day. What more can a girl ask for. I love you.’

Their doting couple was praised and congratulated by their celebrity friends.

Tracy and Liam are currently having a well-deserved stay at El Questro Wildlife Park.

She recalled her classy account and reaction on Twitter, explaining that one woman labeled her family communist before turning to Tracy’s partner and telling him ‘no this Asian woman’.

He politely asked the clerk to leave them alone while Tracy said she remained calm and kept a smile on her face throughout the ordeal.

Last week marked 44 years since Tracy’s parents came to Perth as refugees after fleeing Vietnam in the late 1970s.

Tracy is proud of her roots and has previously written a book titled ‘Little Bamboo’ detailing her parents’ experience escaping Vietnam after the war.

In early 2020, she moved from her hometown of Perth to Sydney after being promoted to broadcaster for the Today programme.

But the role was short-lived after she returned home to Perth shortly before Western Australia closed its borders due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Her decision to return was motivated by her elderly father suffering from Morvan Syndrome, a rare autoimmune disease.

“I really miss the boys of the Today show and it was just a family decision, purely a family decision,” Tracy said at the time.

‘I’m still part of the family and I really miss them – but it’s just one of those things, I have to do, you know.’
