Ex-NBA guard Nate Robinson battling kidney failure
Former NBA guard Nate Robinson is battling kidney failure, he announced on social media Saturday.
Robinson said he has been dealing with the illness privately for the past four years and is currently receiving treatment.
Robinson said in a statement: “I have never been a leader with a voice on the court, I prefer to lead by example, but now it’s time for me to speak up and help all those who don’t. affected by or dealing with Kidney Disease.
“I am grateful for the care and support I have received and continue to receive throughout this process, and hope through this announcement I can help others just like me.”
Robinson, 38, played 11 NBA seasons, spending time with the New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder and New Orleans Pelicans.
In 618 career games (107 appearances), he averaged 11.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 42.3% from the start. He also won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest three times.
