Eubank Jr ‘Wants an extra million pounds’ to fight Conor Benn after failed test

Eddie Hearn today sought to clarify Conor Benn’s allegation of blackmail against Chris Eubank Jr.

In response to the mockery of his interview with Piers Morgan, Benn claims Eubank tried to blackmail him another seven figures after news of the former’s failed VADA test prior to the pair’s scheduled match last year.

And Hear confirmed with Boxing ID that, after the failed test became known to the public, Eubank asked the Benn team for an extra million pounds.

“At the end of the day, Chris Eubank and his doctors received the test results and levels, knew that was not the way to improve performance and decided to continue the fight. Then two days before the game they asked for an extra million pounds.”

“That war has gone from family history, to sheer enmity between them. And we have to find a way to get those two into the ring.

“Chris Eubank will make twice as much for that match as he would against Liam Smith again. It’s up to him.”

Benn’s interview with Morganreleased this week, has sparked fresh debate around his ongoing performance-enhancing drug scandal.

The 20-minute montage didn’t go well in general, with fans and boxers alike saying it didn’t benefit ‘Terminator’, and many questioning the motives that appear in the film. What is Morgan’s program?

That said, Benn looks set to return to the ring soon, with Hearn confirming that talks are underway with multiple opponents for a return match in the first half of this year.

Like Eubank Jr., Benn has been linked with a major fight with retired Filipino legend Manny Pacquaiowho hasn’t boxed since his 2021 world title match against Yordenis Ugas.
