Estee Lauder Reportedly Suspended CEO John Demsey Over Instagram Post

New York-based cosmetic company Estee Lauder John Demsey, chairman of the executive team, was suspended due to a recent Instagram post containing racial slurs. The Wall Street Journal.
The social media post, which was later removed from Demsey’s personal account, shows a fake book cover of the TV show “Sesame Street”, and contains the N-word and jokes about Covid-19, The Journal said.
“The content posted does not represent the values of The Estée Lauder Company,” the company said in an internal memo obtained by the Journal.
Estee Lauder and John Demsey were not immediately available for comment when contacted by CNBC.
Last May, the chief executive marked 30 years at Estee Lauder. Demsey, who oversees brands like Mac and Clinique, has been suspended without pay, the report said. The newspaper did not know the pause time.
Shares of Estee Lauder closed Wednesday down 1.61%, at $290.93 per share.
