Espinoza Launches Scathing On Hearn Attack: “It’s Blatant Dishonesty”

It’s no secret that when Eddie Hearn attempted to conquer America, he managed to upset some of the country’s top boxing figures.

The likes of Leonard Ellerbe, Bob Arum and Oscar De La Hoya have all spoken out about what they thought of the Matchroom Boxing boss during his time promoting the Stateside shows.

In the first day of this month De La Hoya blames Hearn for Canelo Alvarez’s defeat to Dmitry Bivol a month earlier.

Another individual Hearn has regularly crossed is Showtime Sports President Stephen Espinoza.

FightHype asked the latter for his thoughts on Hearn’s comment that his September 17 Canelo-Golovkin 3 ad was ten times larger than Potential fight Errol Spence Jr-Terence Crawfordwill land on Showtime.

“I think it’s funny because at this point everyone knows his MO Whatever he does is bigger and better than anything anyone else does. He always has an opinion about other people’s work, rarely has a self-critical opinion. When someone has such an approach, you just have to laugh. “

“It’s what you feel like you have to say to make your event bigger or to make yourself feel more important, which is fine. Boxing fans will speak for themselves.”

The 52-year-old then offered his views on why Hearn is of interest to American promoters.

“I just think it’s blatant dishonesty.”

“That’s what rubbed me the wrong way. That is where the friction in our relationship arises. It has nothing to do with losing Joshua or anything like that.”

“I enjoy working with people who are honest, forthright and upright.”
