Via Ken Hissner: At AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas, Saturday via Showtime PPV, Tom Brown (TGB Promotion) presented WBC and IBF world champion Errol “The Truth” Spence stopping WBA world champion Yordenis “54 Milagros” Ugas in a unified round after 10 rounds. In the co-main event, Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz stopped former champion Yuriorkis Gamboa in the fifth round.
In the Main Event WBC and IBF World Champion, Errol “The Truth” Spence, 28-0 (21), #146 ¼, of Dallas, TX, stopped WBA world champion Yordenis “54 Milagros” Ugas, 27-5 (12), #146 ¾, of Cuba and Las Vegas, NV, @ 1:44 of the tenth of 12 rounds scheduled.
In the first two innings, Spence’s stab caused Ugas to raise his hand high at the receiving end. In the third round, Ugas finally landed his first solid punch with a punch to the chin, attracting Spence’s attention. In the final seconds, Ugas landed another punch on Spence’s chin.
In the fourth inning, Spence came back well despite missing half of his punch, which Ugas made up for very little. In the sixth round, Ugas landed on the right, knocked Spence’s shot and referee Laurence Cole stepped in between them and did nothing when Ugas landed right to send Spence into what was supposed to be a knockdown rope. Late in the inning, Spence landed a left brace on Ugas’ chin.
In the 1/8 round, Spence had Ugas’ right eye almost closed when suddenly referee Cole came in and called the ring doctor to check if Ugas would allow him to continue or not. At the ninth minute, it was all Spence until the final seconds when Ugas put down good body shots. In the eleventh round again, referee Cole sent Ugas to the ring doctor, who paused the match.
WBA World Welter Champion, Radzhab “No Mercy” Butaev, 14-1 (11), #146 ½, of Khasavyurt, RUS, lost the decisive match to Eimantas Stanionis, 14-0 (9), #146 ½, of Kaunas, LITH, over 12 rounds.
The scores are 114-113, 111-116 and 110-117. Butaev lost a point in the eleventh inning due to a draw.
Welterweight Cody “The Crippler” Crowley, 21-0 (9), #144½, of Ontario, CAN and Las Vegas, NV, beat Josesito “The Riverside Rocky” Lopez, 38-9 (21), #146½, of Riverside, CA, more than 10 laps.
In the seventh inning, it appeared that Crowley had scored the knock-out but referee Laurence Cole ruled out a miss. In the ninth and tenth innings, Crowley knocked Lopez well enough to win.
The score is 98-91 twice and 99-90.
In the WBC lightweight 4th co-main event, Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz, 23-2-1 (16), #134, of Mexico City, MEX, stopped former WBA and IBF champion Feather Yuriorkis “El Ciclon” de Guantanamo” Gamboa, 30-5 (18), #134, of Cuba and Miami, FL, @ 1:32 of the fifth round of 10 scheduled.
In the first inning, a right from Cruz to Gamboa’s chin rocked him. Midway through, a Cruz left hook once again rocked Gamboa. In the second round, a combo from Cruz on the chin and knocked Gamboa out. In the third round, a left hook hit the chin and knocked Gamboa out. In the fourth inning, Cruz scored with a left hook for another knockdown. In the fifth inning, Cruz cornered Gamboa, forcing referee Calo-oy to stop the game.
Lightweight Jose Valenzuela, 12-0 (8), #134, of MEX and Seattle, WA, compartment Olympian Francisco “El Bandido” Vargas, 27-4-2 (19), #134, of Mexico City, MEX, @ 1:25 of the first round of the 10-round schedule.
In the first round, Valenzuela had a counterattack with his chin and knocked Vargas, causing referee Mark Calo-oy to act immediately.
IBF #9 ranks Ultralight Brandun Lee, 25-0 (22), #142 , of LaQuinta, CA, beat Zachary “Zungry” Ochua, 21-3 (7), #141 , of Brooklyn, NY, more than 10 rounds.
