Spence, 32, needs a strong showing against Ugas (27-4, 12 KOs) to show he’s still at the top at 147, as he hasn’t been too impressive in the last three games. with Danny Garcia, Shawn Porter and Mikey Garcia.
Errol’s last big win came in June 2018 when he destroyed Carlos Ocampo in the first round. It’s not like Spence has aged or lost something in his game since that war.
You can determine why Spence doesn’t look sensational because he decided to fight to his opponent’s last three strengths instead of using his power game to overcome them like he did. .
Spence selected boxed Mikey Garcia in March 2019 to show the boxing world that he could outrun the former four-division world champion, and he accomplished that goal.
But by doing so, Spence allowed Mikey to survive a distance of 12 rounds against him, which was unthinkable going into the competition. Letting Mikey go on a chubby, much smaller look was a win for him, making Spence look bad despite winning the one-sided decision.
When Spence battled Shawn Porter, who will debut his 12-gift split against Ugas in 2019, Errol chose to fight inside to play to his opponent’s strengths.
It was a blunder on Spence as he was able to head into Porter’s net from outside the way Ugas did and win every round.
Spence gave away many rounds by fighting Porter inside, where he was at his best and barely won the 12-round split. If it weren’t for Errol’s defeat of Porter in the 11th round, he might have lost the match.
Fighting Porter game is a wrong step on Spence’s part, and although he proved to be a better fighter on the inside than he was, the fight was closer than it could have been.
You could vehemently argue that Ugas beat Porter in a better way than Errol did, but he was robbed.

Chris Williams thinks the only person in welterweight who can cause problems for Spence right now and possibly beat him is Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis. That guy is dangerous, strong, precise and young. If Spence fought Ennis, he would surely lose.
Boots Ennis might be too good for Spence, even if he’s 100%, because he has a combination of Terence Crawford’s counterattack but with Spence’s prowess. If Spence was going to lose anyone, it would be Ennis.
Crawford can’t beat Spence or Ennis in my book. Terence hasn’t fought anyone since rising to 147th in 2018 and looked mediocre against Amir Khan, Porter, Kell Brook and Egidijus Kavaliauskas.
There will be many boxing fans in shock after Spence hits Crawford, but Chris Williams will be here to say, ‘I said that.’
The Top Rated did a great job of creating the illusion that Crawford was an accomplished fighter with their expert matchmaking abilities, but he wasn’t what he seemed. That is donkey’s gold in the view of Chris Williams, and Spence, the sooner Crawford was exposed as glittering iron pyrite, the better.

“If Ugas’s coach (Ismael Salas) thinks I’m a different fighter now, we’ll see in two and a half weeks how different I am,” Spence said.
“I have everything in my arsenal. Whatever Ugas brings, I am ready for it. I will command speed and control everything. I’m making him fight my war.
“I think the way the fight went is because Pacquiao is his shell,” Spence said, downplaying Ugas’ win over gunman Pacquiao, 42.
“I will send my message with my performance. When I have three belts, people know what that means,” Spence said.
