Erica Mena on co-parenting, music video career and race controversy

Mena opened up about the current state of co-parenting with ex-husband Safaree Samuels. When Cam asked her how things were going, she said, “I want things to be better. I pray every day for things to be better.” Erica recently accused Safaree neglect and not properly “grooming” their children while they are in his care. The former reality TV star said she will continue her motherly duties until Safaree takes over. She also talked about her music video career. She said that she “Lank” and really didn’t feel sexy when she started, but she “know [she] have enough ability.”

Newton also asked her about the racial controversy with her ‘Love and Hip Hop’ co-star Spice. As previously reported by Shade roomMena received backlash after calling the Jamaican artist a “green monkey.” She speaks, “My actions have a much bigger impact than I ever thought.” She added that she had “disappointed that [she] let down women of color.” Erica said she wanted to show more of Spice’s behavior so viewers could better understand why she was provoked, but she would accept “accountability” regardless. Cam complimented her, in response, “I’m glad you said so.” Erica added, “It’s all about word choice.”

Spice Responds to Erica Mena’s Comment

Spice then jumped into the comments section of The Shade Room’s Instagram post and responded. The singer’s lengthy message read:

“Goodbye, at least you admitted that you wanted to talk to me, because on a normal day, you can’t sit at the same table with me because I know you think you’re better than those dark-skinned girls. I heard you were talking bad about me behind my back, you were caught on camera that day.” Spice continued, “Take me out of the equation because you still have the Victim mentality in our situation. Why did you call the promoters in Miami animals and black monkeys, why did you call Johnni Blaze a black monkey?(Everything is on Google)”

The 41-year-old added, “You brought your son to the conversation, and you came to that table to talk about the Amaras twins, no one could provoke you to say racist insults. Remember, ‘You are a repeat offender,’ you have no remorse for a culture that has put millions of [dollars] in your pocket. You can say anything but you have chosen to disrespect an entire country. Interviews are not therapy but move on.”

Looks like Spice and Mena are going to have beef before.
