Paris, Ky.’s hometown hero, the legendary Secretariat, became even more ingrained in the community when a three-story mural of the horse was unveiled on November 19.
The frigid temperatures and windy conditions didn’t stop people from gathering around the downtown area to watch the masterpiece as the Paris community choir sang “My Old Kentucky Home, Goodnight” and stereos played. Chris Anderson’s memorable call to Belmont Stakes in 1973, in which he declared that the Secretariat was “moving like a giant machine!”
