EQB electric SUV, Mercedes’ fourth EV for India, breaks cover: What to expect
Mercedes-Benz will officially dismantle the EQB, its fourth electric vehicle in India, this week. The German auto giant will introduce the EQB electric SUV from Tuesday ahead of its launch on December 2. The EV will be launched alongside the GLB for the first time for the brand, launching a luxury EV alongside internal combustion engine (ICE) partners. The EQB electric SUV, as well as the GLB, are open for pre-order in India with a token amount of $1.5 thousand.
Mercedes The EQB will be the first seven-seater electric vehicle in the luxury electric vehicle segment in India. It will join the ranks of EQC and EQS in the German carmaker’s line of electric vehicles for India. It is also expected to be Mercedes’ most affordable electric vehicle in India, thanks to being locally assembled at its factory in Chakan, near Pune.
Mercedes already offers the EQB on the global market. It comes in two wide variants – the EQB 300 and the EQB 350. The EQB 300 draws its power from a 228hp dual-motor powertrain while the higher variant has a 292hp dual-motor setup. The EQB is offered with German four-wheel drive. It claims to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in about six seconds.
Mercedes claims that the EQB can travel more than 400 km on a single charge according to WLTP. It is equipped with a 66 kWh lithium-ion battery pack located under the rear seats. This battery pack can be charged via AC system up to 11 kW and up to 100 kW on DC fast charge setup. Mercedes claims it can recharge to 80% in just 32 minutes using the fast charging option.
Price of EQB can be lower than EQC, cost $99.50 lakh (old gallery). At launch, the EQB will compete with the upcoming Audi Q8 e-tron among others.
