England’s Vitality Rose has been invited to compete at the 2023 Netball World Championships, but has dropped one place in the Netball world rankings from third to fourth.

The Netball World Cup will be held in Cape Town from 28 July to 6 August next year, with South Africa having already confirmed their place as they are the host nation.

Following the launch of the updated Netball World rankings on Monday, five more teams have been invited to participate – Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, England and Uganda.

In the latest rankings, Australia still holds the position of number 1 in the world, followed by Silver Ferns of New Zealand. Jamaica then moved ahead of England to take third place, thanks to the results of the Sunshine Girls’ historic run at the Commonwealth Games.

After Britain ranked fourth, South Africa took fifth and Uganda sixth.

The final teams to qualify for the 2023 World Table Tennis Championships will be decided by the regional qualifiers taking place in Oceania, Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. The top two teams in each tournament will be invited by World Netball to the World Cup.

The Oceania regional qualifiers are already underway with Tonga and Fiji securing their spots and the next qualifiers set to take place in Africa from August 21 to 27.

Scotland is the host for the European Netball World Cup Qualifier including Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Wales, Gibraltar and the Isle of Man, starting 12 October.
