England’s footballers are coming home – and so is Dave the cat | UK News

Football may not come home, but Dave the cat does.

After losing 1-2 to France in the quarter-finals of the World Cup, England began their journey back to Great Britain, bringing with them their furry mascot.

The cat Dave spent time with the players and was adopted by the team, with Manchester City duo John Stones and Kyle Walker being photographed with him most evenings.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s game, Walker said: “Dave is fine.

“He had a bit of an affair with another cat the night before. I think they were fighting for territory and food. But he was fine.

“Hopefully I can keep my promise that he’ll come home with us if we win the World Cup. Dave is okay, thank you for asking.”

Now, although no longer glory at the World Cup, the players still decided to return to Dave’s hometown in England.
