Embarrassing glitch on ABC News Breakfast as cameras go live ‘scam’

ABC News Breakfast was hit with a howling hit on Friday morning’s show when a camera went live ‘rogue’.

A video shared by co-host Michael Rowland to his Twitter account shows the camera aimlessly pointing at an empty corner of the set as the show begins.

Michael and co-host Lisa Millar were not seen.

Lisa diligently continued with the off-camera script.

“Hello, here we are,” she said as the camera finally moved to where the co-hosts were already standing ready to begin the show.

With an awkward wave, Lisa greeted the viewers while the amused Michael stood beside her trying his best not to laugh.

Things took a turn for the worse just seconds later, when the camera seemed to tilt downward, losing track of the co-hosts.

“Should we get on our knees, Lisa?” Michael suggested as the pain ticked.

Crouching awkwardly so the camera could see them, Lisa burst out laughing and said: ‘It must be Friday.’

The camera finally moved into place as Michael mimicked lifting a heavy object with two reverse cranks:

“We’ll have a chance,” he said with a laugh.

Finally recovering from the crash, Michael said, ‘I can say, happy ABC’s 90th birthday.’

Meanwhile, it’s been a good year for ABC News Breakfast.

In May, ABC’s popular flagship finally beat the daily Nine’s Today breakfast show for a week after more than 13 years.

Michael told TV Tonight: ‘The results reflect our main difference from other shows. We don’t have ‘News’ in our title for nothing. ‘
