Embark on a journey to savor the traditional flavors of India at GT Road restaurant, Delhi

Modern Indian cuisine is seeing a drastic shift towards Western cuisines. But the appeal of traditional recipes remains undiminished; In fact, it is here to stay forever. The only problem is finding those long-forgotten flavors that still capture our hearts. GT Road Restaurant, nestled in the heart of Delhi, offers an experience of fine dining old-timers imbued with traditional flavors and cooking techniques. GT Road takes customers on a 2,600-kilometer culinary journey along Asia’s oldest highway running between Kabul and Chittagong through regions with a treasure trove of flavors to share.

In the 16th century, the Grand Trunk Road was the first route that merchants traveled from Kabul to Kolkata. Afghan and Pakistani baked goods and baked goods, fried fish in Amritsar, Nawabi cuisine of Delhi and Agra, MacherJhol in Kolkata cooked with fresh spices and enjoyed with bread and fermented lucchis. The terrain is of historical and geographical importance, but the food along the route is a living story of its own.

The purpose of GT Road is to keep the pot of water bubbling with authentic flavors and aromas so that the merchants along the route stay full and satisfied. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you are greeted with antique swords, knives, guns and antique coins from the era. The menu is extensive so I was spoiled for choice during my visit. I start my meal with dishes and Dahi Bhalla Chaat died for. It has the right amount of spice with a hint of sweetness.

I’ve managed to have almost all of the steaks from the raw barbecue grill, placed right on my table. The ones that really stand out with great flavor and texture are – Bhatti Ka Chatpata Paneer Tikka and Dahi Ke Kebab from the Vegetarian section and Achari Macchi Ka Tukda and Zafrani Murgh Tikka from the Non-Vegetarian section.

I loveRed Sauce Spaghetti from the Live Counter. It is a great choice for children to have dinner with the family. Also, not to be missed is the hot pipe jalebi combined with rabri.

From Buffet, almost everything is delicious. I highly recommend trying Dal Sultani, Amritsari Chole, Murg Makhanwala and Anda Curry.

And don’t forget to end your meal on a sweet note with Shahi Tukda, Sugar-Free Gulab Ki Kheer and Vanilla Fruit Pudding.
