Elon Musk says he will resign as Twitter CEO ‘as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job’ | Science & Tech News

Elon Musk said he will step down as CEO of Twitter “as soon as I find someone stupid enough to take the job”.

The Twitter the boss said he would then “run only the software and server teams”.

It comes later musk launched a poll ask the user to give their verdict on his tenuresaid he would “comply with the results”.

When the deadline passed on Sunday, 57.5% voted to let him go.

The poll is clearly an attempt to draw a line under his controversial reign.

About 20 minutes after asking the question, as the ‘yes’ votes grew, he added: “As the saying goes, be careful what you want, because you can get it.”

Responding to a comment, he said: “It’s not a matter of finding a CEO, the question is of finding a CEO that can keep Twitter alive.”

He added: “Nobody wants the job that can really keep Twitter alive. There’s no successor.”

Against Twitter’s Social Media Rivals

Over the weekend, Musk declared war on the platform’s social media rivals by banning the promotion of their accounts on Twitter.

That means users can have their accounts suspended, locked or deleted if they post links to their profiles on other social networking sites, including Facebook and Instagram owned by Meta, as well as Mastodon or Truth Social by Donald Trump.

Musk has promised to improve Twitter when he’s in power by removing fake accounts and improving freedom of expression.

But his actions have cost many major advertisers ground amid concerns about the direction and ability to pay interest on the $13 billion ($11 billion) debt Musk bought it.
