Elon Musk Considers More Layoffs In Twitter, Weeks After Firing 50% Staff
New Delhi:
Elon Musk, Twitter’s new owner, is considering laying off more employees, just weeks after he laid off half of the company’s workforce, Bloomberg reported. The company’s operations were also affected after employees left because of Elon Musk’s ultimatum: either work in a “harsh environment” or leave.
According to Bloomberg, the new round of job cuts is expected to target employees in the sales team and Twitter’s partners. The report adds that the layoffs could be announced as soon as tomorrow.
Musk, the world’s richest man, asked team leaders in those divisions to agree to lay off more employees. Robin Wheeler, who runs marketing and sales, declined to do so, the report said. So does Maggie Suniewick, who runs partnerships. As a result, both lost their jobs, Bloomberg reported.
Twitter, which no longer has a communications division, did not respond to messages sent to its press line.
Musk has been heavily criticized for radical changes at Twitter, the company he bought less than a month ago for $44 billion. In one of his first decisions at the microblogging platform, Musk laid off 50% of Twitter’s 7,500 employees. He also scrapped the company’s work-from-home policy.
Nearly 1,200 employees have resigned following Musk’s “hard work” ultimatum, forcing Twitter to close its offices until Monday.
Musk’s unsuccessful attempts to improve user verification with a controversial sign-up service have resulted in a spate of fake accounts and pranks, and have left major advertisers in the dark. leave this platform.
