Ellie Goulding eases her crippling anxiety and panic attacks by hugging her baby boy Arthur.

The singer, 35, shares her toddler, 16-month-old, with her Eton and Oxford-trained art dealer husband Caspar Jopling, 30, and she says he has help ease the frenzy that has ‘quite determined my life and career’ .

Pop star Ellie’s anxiety increased when she became a mother and she said it was made ‘more intense’ by the ‘current climate and what’s going on in the world’.

She explained to the Mirror: ‘My anxiety just disappeared from the chart. It felt like it reached new heights of panic and fear.

‘If you’ve never had a panic attack, it’s hard to describe and explain but it’s so overwhelming…

‘It’s kind of a survival mechanism for you and your baby. You want to survive as much as possible for them and you also want them to survive, so you are fighting for both of them. It’s a lot.

She added that giving her son ‘cuddles and hanging out with him’ eased her hardships and said the joy her son brought to her was ‘unremarkable’.

Ellie recently opened up about being a mother, admitting it has ‘taken everything’ in her life after she gave birth in April 2021.

The tight-lipped singer detailed the lifestyle change while chatting with Ferne Cotton ahead of an intimate show at The Biltmore, Mayfair for Hilton Secret Socials this summer.

She explained to Ferne: ‘Motherhood has taken over everything, it affects everything’.

Noting some sleepless nights, Ellie continued: ‘Obviously the first thing is that you just want to be with your kids all the time.

“And then it was just a whole new world of emotions and insomnia, a combination of that,” she explains.

But despite the change in tempo, singer Starry Eyed said the new chapter has given her more inspiration with the music.

Ellie details: “I wrote a lot of songs, it actually seemed to come more naturally.

She and husband Caspar married in a lavish ceremony at York Minster in August 2019, a year after announcing their engagement and have been together since 2017.

The pair were first arranged on a blind date by their mutual friend Princess Eugenie, and the art dealer questioned their country house through a jigsaw puzzle.

Her husband was educated at Eton and Harvard, and was the son of an aristocratic Yorkshire landowner and the grandson of art dealer Jay Joplin.
