Elimay continues to dominate Mullins | Racing news

Elimay presented coach Willie Mullins with his 10th winner at this year’s Cheltenham Festival to complete the amazing timers of the day in the Mrs Paddy Power Mares’ Chase competition.

Runner-up 12 months ago, Elimay started the finish line under the guidance of Mark Walsh in the shirt of JP McManus.

Zambella removed the race from Maid O’Malley, but the race changed its complexion immediately.

There are four horses in the game with a final chance of winning with Elimay (9-4) demonstrating strength over the hill to score half a length from Pink Legend. Scarlet And Dove is far behind in third place.

Assistant coach David Casey, who gives his boss a rare race outside of press duty, said: “I think we have a lot of good chances and the horses have run brilliantly all week.

“Everybody knows racing isn’t easy, we lost Brandy Love on her race morning, so it’s great for the home team that everything is going well.

“Elimay isn’t big but she’s really tough and lives a good life. She hasn’t been of much help to Mark, but she’s young.

“In the end it was just her toughness that did it for her.”
