The The BMW X1 has been redesigned for the 2023 model year and part of the new lineup is an electric vehicle called the iX1.
It was revealed on Tuesday alongside the regular 2023 X1, although it is yet to be confirmed for sale in the US
The platform of the redesigned X1 is the BMW Group’s FAAR platform designed for compact cars and crossovers. The IX1 uses a modified version of the platform that has a 64.7 kilowatt-hour battery of usable capacity stored in the floor.
The IX1 was revealed in a single xDrive30 that features all-wheel drive and a maximum output of 308 hp. BMW quotes a 0-62 mph time of 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 112 mph. There will probably also be a single motor setup, like in 2022 i4.
The electric motors are a fifth generation design from the BMW Group and are housed in modular transmissions that combine a single motor with a single-speed transmission and power control unit.

Meanwhile, the battery features intelligently controlled thermal management to enable short charging times and good range, even in extremely low temperatures. BMW estimates a range of at least 250 miles.
The new X1 will go on sale in the US later this year with a single xDrive28i version equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four with 241 hp.
The X1 will also hit the performance tier with an internal combustion engine, said to be called X1 M35i. Don’t be surprised if we also see the iX1 hit performance points at some point, similar to iX’s M60 and i7 of M70 scores.
Production of all X1 models will be carried out at a BMW Group plant in Leipzig, Germany.
The IX1 is one of 13 electric models that the BMW Group will have in its lineup by the end of 2023. Others that have yet to be revealed include electric versions of the redesign.
